Now yet another brand-new, day one Xbox Game Pass game has been confirmed for the September 2022 lineup in the form of Moonscars. Moonscars is a 2D, side-scrolling Soulslike game where players take on the role of a warrior named Grey Irma. Grey Irma is «clayborne» and her ultimate goal is finding the man who created her, known as The Sculptor. The game looks like Castlevania meets Dark Souls, which sounds like a dream combo on paper, though it remains to be seen how it stacks up.

Xbox Game Pass subscribers needing a new Soulslike game to play should note that the game will be available starting September 27. As far as Xbox goes, Moonscars is only getting a native release on Xbox One, which is a bit odd considering it has both PS4 and PS5 versions on the way. Regardless, Xbox Series X is backward compatible with Xbox One, so Game Pass subscribers can check it out regardless of which Xbox console they have handy.
Moonscars isn't the first time that someone has translated the Dark Souls formula to a 2D format, but it looks to be one of the most visually-striking attempts at it yet.
