The second half of 2022 is going to be very exciting for World of Warcraft fans, with Wrath of the Lich King Classic releasing September 26 and Dragonflight following before the end of the year. To help players prepare for the big releases, World of Warcraft is currently running experience boosts in both retail and Classic.
The experience boosts for retail and Classic WoW–called Winds of Wisdom and Joyous Journeys respectively–increase all experience points earned by 50%. Though the two buffs provide similar benefits, they won’t be around for the same amount of time.

The Winds of Wisdom buff for retailWorld of Warcraft began on July 19, and ends on weekly resets during the first week of August–Tuesday, August 2–for players in the United States. Additionally, this buff only affects characters from levels 10 through 59. The Winds of Wisdom buff ends with the launch of Shadowlands Season 4, which provides a remix on the World of Warcraft expansion's raids and Mythic dungeons. Players currently have about a week to benefit from the buff to level the last of their alts.
TheClassic World of Warcraft Joyous Journeys buff, however, is less limited. The experience boost is available for all characters up through the current max level cap of 70. Though the Joyous Journeys buff does not have a set end date yet, World of Warcraft stated it planned to run for six to eight weeks. This means the experience buff will likely run nearly to the launch of Wrath of the Lich King Classic, possibly ending at the start of the pre-patch event.
