At this point, we can safely say that game previews via Xbox Insider pretty much spoil what’s on the way for Game Pass. Over the last two months, we saw three games become playable through the program — including the excellent Return to Castle Wolfenstein. As shared today by VGC, ahead of QuakeCon 2022, Bethesda and Microsoft have released a healthy list of classic RPGs and shooters to PC Game Pass today. There are others as well, which you can buy at the Microsoft Store.
There are five classic Bethesda-owned games now available to download via PC Game Pass. As mentioned before, Return to Castle Wolfenstein can be found under the “Recently added” section. It’s joined by Quake 4, An Elder Scrolls Legend: Battlespire, The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard, and Wolfenstein 3D. Quake 4 was also among the handful of games going through testing as far back as June. I even managed to play a little bit. It’s still Quake 4, for better or worse.
And that list is only the start. Over on the Microsoft Store, you can purchase more classic games such as HeXen: Beyond Heretic, HeXen: Deathkings of the Dark Citadel (so edgy), and Heretic: Shadow of the Serpent Riders. They’re all going for a reasonably $4.99 USD each.
Following Microsoft’s acquisition of Bethesda parent company ZeniMax Media, many of the publisher’s games have ended up on PC Game Pass. With the latest list, I’m fairly certain subscribers now have access to just about all of them. Maybe someday we’ll see HeXen make the jump as well?
