Samsung broke new ground with its foldable phone in 2019 and made it a more reliable product, earning the respect and attention of a larger audience with the Galaxy Z Fold 2. By the third generation, this became a refined device that can serve as a smartphone or a tablet and is usable enough in either form to be worthy of daily use. It still isn't the most durable product in the world, but the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is reliable and long-lasting providing a bit of care is taken.

In terms of Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 4, the rumors have been coming in hot and heavy. A Tweet from Ross Young, a display supply chain expert with a strong track record, said to expect a much larger order from Samsung this year, more than double that of the previous generation. Young also suggested that the Galaxy Z Fold 4 could have a lower price. Of course, higher volumes reduce costs, and perhaps Samsung is planning on passing some of those savings on to the customer to push its advantage by selling an overwhelming majority of foldable phones before competitors can ramp their production. Another leading Samsung tipster, Ice Universe, tweeted that the Galaxy Z Fold 4 will be smaller and lighter than the Z Fold 3.
