September is shaping up to be a good month for gaming events. Not only has a Disney and Marvel Games Showcase been recently confirmed for September 9, but a Ubisoft Forward is taking place on September 10.
Then, of course, there is the rumored PlayStation Showcase, which may or may not take place on September 8. Every September of the past few years has seen Sony hold their major event, essentially an E3-level event, and so it stands to reason fans can expect another sometime next month. Nintendo, at the same time, is likely to host a Direct next month too. «Direct» is currently trending on Twitter with over 150K tweets, not because Nintendo has confirmed anything yet, but because fans expect it to relatively soon.

2022 has been a strong year for the Nintendo Switch, but that year is quickly coming to an end. Nintendo still has some heavy hitters on the way, like Splatoon 3, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, and Bayonetta 3. However, many fans are hoping to see what Nintendo has lined up for 2023, especially with the only real game confirmed for next year being The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2, and it has faced numerous delays. Fans should take its current release window with some skepticism, but what matters is not when it releases, but how it releases. Ultimately, it's time for a Nintendo Direct, and there is precedent here.
