WhatsApp status to get a NEW feature! Get set for a 'rich' chat experience
WhatsApp introduced the Link Preview option a month ago to allow users to have a preview of the content in the link. And now, users will be able to have a sneak-peek of the shared link on WhatsApp Status too! The instant messaging app is reported to be working on generating rich link previews for WhatsApp Status. The WhatsApp updates tracker WaBetaInfo reported that WhatsApp testing is currently being done on the iOS platform, but this may be extended to all the Android WhatsApp users.
"WhatsApp is now working on some improvements for status updates. In particular, we have discovered that the company is developing the ability to generate rich link previews when sharing a link to your status update," WaBetaInfo said in a blog post. Though, you need to note that when someone shares a link to the text status on WhatsApp beta for Android, there is already a link preview, but that is not a rich preview. With this new update status view experience is going to be rich.
WhatsApp link sharing on status updates seems boring! You can’t find the information about the links unless you tap on them. It looks like a shared text on a large colourful display. But with this update, WhatsApp link sharing will be exciting as sender as well as receiver will be able to have a detailed view of the link instead of just a plain text. "WhatsApp creates a rich preview by including extra information in the shared link. In the future, WhatsApp intends to deliver improved link previews. At a later point, WhatsApp will undoubtedly offer the same feature to WhatsApp beta for Android and Desktop," WABetaInfo shared.
