With 442 days of Wordle so far, users are now more than familiar with irritating outcomes in the five-letter-word guessing game.
“Inter”, the answer for Wordle #442, was number eight in the top 10 Google searches by Kiwis yesterday, suggesting many Wordle fans had yet again been met with a head scratcher.

Inter is commonly recognised as a prefix, used in words such as international, internet, and interrupted.
However, it also doubles as a verb, used to describe the burying of a dead body in a grave or tomb, usually with funeral rites.
Inter is also an accepted word in Scrabble – although the prefix ‘inter-’ isn’t a word in its own right, the verb version is widely recognised.
Wordle exploded in popularity late last year and isn’t meant to end until 2027 when it’s well of words runs dry, but are any of us still making the game a part of our daily lives?
