Vikings introduced many memorable warriors and shieldmaidens, and one that quickly became a fan favorite is Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick), Ragnar’s first wife and mother of Björn Ironside, but how old was she at the beginning of Vikings and when she died? Among the most popular historical dramas in recent years is Michael Hirst’s Vikings, which premiered on History Channel in 2013. By the time the events of Vikings begin, Lagertha and Ragnar were married and had two children – Björn Ragnarsson and Gyda Ragnarsdottir, though the latter died in Vikings season 1 during the plague – but in season 2, her marriage came to an end after Aslaug arrived and revealed she was pregnant with Ragnar’s child.
