Vinyl is big, and record players have made a resurgence. Victrola is staying on top of that trend with a new line of turntables designed to wirelessly connect with Sonos speaker systems.
The Stream series of turntables featuring the Works With Sonos badge are third-party products that can integrate into any Sonos speaker system, including Ikea Symfonisk speakers, Wink smart lights, and home theater control systems from Control4, Crestron, and Lutron.
Stream turntables connect to your home Wi-Fi network with Victrola's Stream app, after which they can serve as an audio source for your Sonos setup (through the Sonos app).
The flagship is the Stream Carbon, which features an Ortofon 2M Red cartridge, a carbon fiber tonearm, a die-cast aluminum platter, and a built-in preamp for users who want to plug it directly into wired speakers. It also supports both wired and wireless network connections, with 802.11ac Wi-Fi and an Ethernet port. Additional Stream models are planned for 2023.
While the Victrola Stream Carbon is the first Works With Sonos record player, Sonos has supported connecting turntables through audio cables with its Amp and Port accessories and Play:5 speaker. The Pro-Ject Debut Carbon turntable also has its own Sonos Editions(Opens in a new window).
Victrola, meanwhile, previously released the Revolution Go portable turntable that doubles as a Bluetooth speaker on its own, and offers several other turntable/speaker combinations that can stream via Bluetooth.
The Victrola Stream Carbon is available for preorder for $799, and will ship in October.
