Vi has been braving rough waters of the telecom industry lately and while its fate rests on external factors, the company continues to rollout new services in several circles. Currently, subscribers of Vi in Haryana are getting the Wi-Fi calling service, something that has been available rival operators Airtel and Jio.
With the Haryana circle added, Vodafone Idea now offers the Wi-Fi calling service in 12 circles, which also include West Bengal, Delhi, Goa, Gujarat, Kolkata, Maharashtra, Mumbai, Punjab, Rajasthan, UP East, and UP West. Note that the service is available for both prepaid and postpaid service.
Wi-Fi calling, or VoWiFi is a service that allows your phone to latch on to a Wi-Fi network. The service then allows the calls to be routed via the Wi-Fi network instead of the LTE network. This technology useful in areas where the network reception is poor and affects the call quality. With VoWiFi, you can continue to make calls at the best of the quality.
Step 1: The Wi-Fi Calling service is usually available under the Connection and SIM Card settings in most Android phones. On Samsung phones, you can find the Wi-Fi settings under "Connections". On Xiaomi phones, you can find it under the SIM card settings. It varies from phone to phone.
Step 2: In order to enable Wi-Fi Calling, you will need to enable the VoLTE settings on your device under Settings.
Step 3: You will also need to keep your Android device connected to a solid Wi-Fi network.
Here's how you can enable the same on iPhones.
