While Venom has always been an incredibly strong character within the Marvel Universe as he exhibited similar abilities to those of Spider-Man but with a much more ferocious and deadly edge, the symbiote antihero actually has a god-tier superpower that makes him way stronger than fans ever knew–a surprising ability that is linked all the way back to the origins of the King in Black.
Knull, aka the King in Black, is an eldritch god of the Marvel Universe who existed before the formation of the entire multiverse. Knull lived in an eternal void, surrounded by nothing but the darkness over which he ruled. Then, suddenly, light exploded into Knull’s realm, bringing with it the life of Marvel’s vast multiverse. This development angered the King in Black and inspired him to wage war upon life itself. Knull harnessed the darkness of his void and forged it into a weapon known as the Necrosword which was strong enough to kill gods with a single thrust. After the creation of the Necrosword, Knull found a way to stretch his influence even further across the cosmos, and even across the multiverse, by creating the symbiotes that were all connected to his established hive mind–a race of aliens that eventually produced Venom.
