Valve: Steam Deck Shipment Numbers Expected to 'More Than Double'

Still waiting for your Steam Deck pre-order? In some good news, Valve now has enough devices manufactured to ship over twice as many Steam Decks as it did before. 

Valve delivered the update on Monday after notifying another group of pre-order customers they could complete their order to buy a Steam Deck, which was initially released in late February.  

“Production has picked up, and after today we'll be shipping more than double the number of Steam Decks every week!” the company tweeted(Opens in a new window). According to Valve Product Designer Lawrence Yang, the increase in shipments will start this Thursday when the company begins fulfilling Q3 pre-orders a day early.  

The increased production will hopefully help more consumers get their hands on the PC gaming handheld. If you want to own a Steam Deck immediately, you’ll have to go to eBay, where scalpers can be found reselling it for sometimes twice the normal pricing, or around $1,000. 

Valve originally planned on launching the Steam Deck in December. But the company was forced to delay the release by two months due to component shortages and supply chain problems. Fortunately, Valve began ramping up production in April.
