Valorant exploded onto the tactical FPS market midway through 2020. Hiding an account's level has quite a number of benefits, one of the main positives being that it avoids potential toxicity from other players based on their own account levels. Keep in mind that doing this process does not hide the account level from the player's friends and will still be shown on their friend's list. It will only make it so that other players cannot see what level the player's account is. Fortunately, this will not affect the player's experience gain or battle pass progression.
People have made arguments against hiding account levels especially to prevent smurfs from hiding their levels to make their accounts less conspicuous. Unfortunately, smurfing isn't against Riot's Terms of Service and won't result in a ban. It is however frowned upon by a majority of the community as it ruins games for other players.
