The first episode for the second season of Uzaki-Chan Wants to Hang Out! begins with a Christmas atmosphere and the two lovebirds walking side by side. It then leads into a standard montage of them enjoying Christmas with each other at Sakurai’s home and culminates in the two of them whispering sweet nothings with flushed cheeks before they collapse onto a bed and embrace each other.
It’s a strong start to the second season and while it’s not entirely clear at first, it serves as a teaser of things to come in the future. Since this season is picking up shortly after the last season ended, summer has only just ended and Christmas is still a while away.

After this potentially misleading start, viewers get to enjoy a new opening for the second season, and it’s got a more exciting style than the opening in the first season. The song is similarly upbeat, but it introduces new characters at a glance with more active and dynamic visuals, plus plenty of visual accents for additional flavoring.
After the intro, Sakurai’s pervy friend Sakaki comes across Uzaki sulking in a classroom since summer break has ended. Sakaki considers that it’s probably because Sakurai hasn’t shown up yet, which it very clearly is. He brightens her spirits a bit when he reminds her that she’ll still be able to spend time with Sakurai even though summer break ended. Uzaki regales Sakaki with tales of her rocky start with Sakurai and her view of him changed after moments when she saw how thoughtful or accommodating he really is.
