Untamed Isles is an MMORPG coming to Steam Early Access later this year. This new game from developer Phat Loot Studios is a monster-catching adventure in the same vein as games like Pokémon or TemTem. However, Untamed Isles has a twist that makes it stand out from the crowd. Instead of hunting for hundreds of unique monsters, Untamed Isles only has 10 creatures that can be mixed and matched.
The core feature of Untamed Isles is limb-swapping. Each “tame” has a head, torso, tail, front legs, and back legs which can be interchanged at will. Since the limbs of the 10 tames can be swapped, the developer says there are over 1.5 million potential combinations. Untamed Isles was recently funded via a successful Kickstarter campaign, and the trailer for the game can be viewed below.
A press release describes the game as one in which “players will find tames, unique creatures that inhabit an ever-evolving world, with interesting looks and even more intriguing features.” It goes on to say that “Phat Loot Studios aims to give players more freedom in an open world, multiplayer features, and endless combinations of monsters to tame.”
