Ubisoft has revealed Rainbow Six Mobile, a free-to-play FPS coming to iOS and Android devices.
Promising “a true Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege experience, where tactical gameplay meets fast-paced action”, development of the title is being led by a new team at Ubisoft Montreal.
The game’s core mode, Attack vs. Defense, sees two teams of five players facing off against each other.
Attackers deploy drones to help formulate a plan before attempting to breach destructible walls, floors and ceilings, while defenders can use barricades to fortify their location and spy cameras and traps to try and gain an advantage in battle.
The game will let players customise a squad of operators, each of whom has their own skillset, weapons and gadgets.
It will feature popular maps from Rainbow Six Siege, including Bank and Border, and PvP game modes like Secure Area and Bomb.
While a release date hasn’t been announced, players can register to participate in upcoming Rainbow Six Mobile tests.
Ubisoft claimed in mid-February that Rainbow Six Siege had recently passed the 80 million player mark, having added 10 million players in the previous twelve months.
It also said that the latest entry in the series, Rainbow Six Extraction, had exceeded five million unique players following its release a month earlier.
