A new trailer for Joel Coen's The Tragedy of Macbeth is like Shakespeare meets horror movies. Coen wrote and directed the black and white film, which recounts one of Shakespeare's most popular plays. The film features an all-star cast, including Denzel Washington, Frances McDormand, Bertie Carvel, Alex Hassell, Corey Hawkins, Harry Melling, and Brendan Gleeson
Coen has typically been part of the duo known as The Coen Brothers, having directed multiple high-profile projects over the years with his brother, Ethan, including Raising Arizona, Fargo, The Big Lebowski, No Country For Old Men, Burn After Reading and many more. Ethan Coen was apparently not interested in being involved with The Tragedy of Macbeth and Joel recently commented that the two never set out to be co-directors, even though it lasted for over 35 years. "We just thought we should do some different things for a while," said Coen of the decision to direct solo, which came for him on The Tragedy of Macbeth.
