Herme’s Castle is the third area in Thymesia, and it is arguably one of the easiest. The challenge takes quite a dip, partially because Corvus is nearing the height of his power, and partially because the area is lacking in minibosses. This is all just a cunning ruse of course, as this area is hiding Varg.

You may not remember Varg’s name, but you will remember his armoured mug. Varg is the first boss you fought in Thymesia - you know, the one who brutally murdered you during the tutorial. Well, now it’s time to face him again, and this time, you need to win. Thankfully, he is quite the one-trick pony.
Varg is a towering mountain of a man who carries an equally hillocky sword that he is very eager to ram through your supple frame. What he lacks in character, development, and finesse, he more than makes up for in powerful swings that can end your life in seconds if you aren’t constantly on the ball.
Varg is a brutal combatant, but he is not insurmountable. In fact, he is still not on the same level as Odur, which is staggering when you consider Odur with the first “real” boss in Thymesia and no boss since has come close to comparing in terms of challenge.
Varg has a big sword, lots of armour, and two whole phases in which to murder you. Despite his multi-phase design, he doesn’t change much during the transition. This makes him incredibly easy to learn, as you only need to learn his first phase and you’ll be able to handle his second.
All of Varg's attacks (bar his ultimate) are countered in the same way - Deflect them. His attacks have a long windup and come out slowly. He is imposing due to his size, but the counter is always to stand your ground and deflect.
