At Tesla's Cyber Rodeo event in Austin, Texas on Thursday, CEO Elon Musk announced that the elusive Cybertruck will finally go on sale in 2023. Musk was speaking at Tesla's Texas Gigafactory opening party, which is said to have been attended by around 15,000 people. The ceremony comes barely a few weeks after Musk opened Tesla's German factory and handed over the first batch of Model Y cars to their owners.
Tesla unveiled the Cybertruck in 2019, but it remains MIA more than two years after its announcement. Production of the vehicle has been delayed multiple times, with some reports indicating that it might go into production by the end of 2022. While Musk has since confirmed that it won't start production this year, it is only now that he's announced a revised availability date.

The Cybertruck will finally go on sale next year, according to Musk. While he did not reveal a more specific timeline for the launch, Musk did apologize for the delay in getting the Cybertruck into production. Musk also showed off what's believed to be the production model at the event and promised to build it at the newly-opened factory. Musk also joked about smashing the vehicle's window in a reference to the faux pas at the original Cybertruck launch event in 2019, which saw one of the windows of the demo Cybertruck unit smashed by a baseball just as Musk was hyping up the strength of the supposedly unbreakable glass.
