It’s been a long time coming, but the atmospheric first-person horror game Scorn is almost upon us. Ahead of its October release, developer Ebb Software and publisher Kepler Interactive have now given fans a new extended gameplay trailer for Scorn, showing off an early section of the game.
“In this introductory sequence, players are acquainted with the character they’ll be guiding through the bio-labyrinth,” reads the press release. “With no assistance, players will work their way into the bowels of the game’s world, equipping themselves with strange tools and solving a grotesque puzzle that only hints towards things to come…”
Scorn has a strong focus on body horror and environments inspired by the work of artist H.R. Giger. At first glance, Scorn may seem somewhat similar to the Alien franchise. However, it looks like Ebb Software wants to go all in with its concepts. The developers assure that players will slowly understand the protagonist as they explore the nightmarish world of the game.
“Tasked with exploring Scorn’s hellscape, players must learn its rules and master its puzzles without any guidance or support, being left to fend for themselves in a totally immersive experience. By uncovering these secrets and gathering the strange bio-mechanical tools that seem to have been used by the civilization that previously called this world home, surviving might just be possible. Finding the truth, however, is an entirely different question.”
