Electronic Arts is reportedly gearing up to reveal the next Need for Speed game this week.
That’s according to Giant Bomb reporter Jeff Grubb, who made the claim on a podcast last week.
“What I’ve heard recently, over the last week or so, is that Need for Speed Unbound is supposed to get announced next week and then it should still be coming out this year, so December,” he said.
Asked by a Twitter user on Monday if they could confirm claims that a new Need for Speed game will be revealed this week, official EA social channels did little to dampen the speculation.
The Need for Speed account responded to the message with an ‘eyes’ emoji, which is often used to draw attention to something.
EA racing game studio Codemasters then replied with: “Announce Need for Sp…. oh.”

EA confirmed in May that the next Need for Speed game would be released in the fourth quarter of 2022.
The title will reportedly be set in a fictionalised version of Chicago called Lake Shore City and feature a photo-realistic art style mixed with anime elements.
A short gameplay clip of the title seemingly leaked in August, showing a car crashing while attempting to jump through an obstacle.
EA announced in February 2020 that it had handed Need for Speed development duties back to Criterion Games as it planned to restructure Ghost Games, which made the previous four entries in the racing series
