The golden Nintendo Wii originally intended for Queen Elizabeth II is once again up for auction online. After the console's original and unsuccessful royal delivery and its incomplete deal for purchase on eBay, this famed and unlucky Wii has resurfaced on the internet once again.
The unique Nintendo Wii console stands apart from any other in many ways. For one, the console and Wiimote are plated in 24 karat gold. This aesthetically pleasing consistency was crafted with purpose, as it was intended for delivery to Queen Elizabeth II. In 2009, publisher THQ created the golden Wii and sent it to Buckingham Palace. THQ did this as a publicity stunt to promote its Big Family Games title. Unfortunately, the golden Wii was promptly returned to the company, and never made it to the Queen.

Tom Phillips of Eurogamer reported that the eccentric Nintendo Wii is currently up for sale. Recently, the console was discovered being listed for auction on the aptly named site Goldin. The auction site has listed the console as "The Golden Wii," outlining the bundle to include the necessary cables and accessories that typically come out of the box with the console. The item description notes that the console has endured minor wear, but attached is a Letter of Provenance for authentication. At the time of writing, «The Golden Wii» is listed at $2.1k.
The auction currently underway for the intended royal Nintendo Wii is not the first potential sale of the famed console. In April of 2021, the Wii was up for sale on eBay for a staggering price of $300,000. After THQ's offering to the Queen was denied and the console returned, the company held onto the special console
