Sonic Frontiers has been available to play at EGX in London this week. Alongside Gamescom, this was one of the biggest public demos of the game ahead of its November launch. It was also crucial in Sonic Team's effort to turn public opinion around after a less-than-stellar media campaign over the summer left many calling for the game to be delayed. And now, it looks like it's all paid off.
Sonic Frontiers has been a hit at EGX over the weekend, with many saying they were pleasantly surprised by the gameplay demo. Twitter is full of players, both seasoned Sonic veterans and blue blur newcomers, feeling positive about Frontiers, and willing to give the series another chance. It remains to be seen if this translates into sales, but for now, Sega can likely put EGX down as a success.

The overall consensus appears to be that, despite looking pretty plain, Sonic Frontiers is actually a whole lot of fun to run around in.
The combat has also received praise, with Sonic's new Cyloop ability mixing up the usual bouts of spamming the homing attack.
If there's one point of contention, however, it's the cyberspace levels. These are 2D levels, full of throwbacks to Sonic's past adventures. Yet fans are finding them less nostalgic, and more repetitive, especially since we get a version of Green Hill Zone in pretty much every Sonic game.
Despite this, some say they are saved by the increased sense of momentum that has been lacking in recent games. Indeed, it does look like running up a slope will slow you down, a big change for the series, and probably one of the biggest requests from fans.
