Following the events at the university, Ellie must use everything Joel has taught her to survive in this chapter of The Last of Us Part 1. While out hunting animals, she comes across a large buck and players will have their first opportunity to play as Ellie, using the bow to kill a deer. Players can choose between the type of bow aiming system they would prefer to use in the accessibility options, which even provides returning players the option to use the old system where the arc of the bow is displayed.

As this chapter coincides with parts from Left Behind, players can decide whether if they would prefer to play the standalone first before diving into the winter chapter of the base game or to continue forging ahead to see the story through to the end.
