A prosthetic makeup artist and fan of The Last of Us created an impressive Clicker mask. The Last of Us fans know the clickers as the blind but deadly hunters of the game’s zombie horde, and the silicone mask offers a grotesque look at a real-world zombie apocalypse.
In the third and penultimate stage of the Cordyceps infection, the parasitic fungus completely overgrows the zombie’s head, bursting out from its skull. This destroys the Clicker’s eyes, rendering them completely blind. However, their acute hearing, echolocation, and sheer ferocity make them far deadlier than The Last of Us’ more common types of Infected.
The Last of Us Actors Haven’t Played the Games
Makeup artist Francesco Sanseverino’s Clicker mask won’t give its wearers echolocation or an overwhelming hunger for human flesh. However, it looks like it could, with a few people commenting that the mask looked almost disturbingly realistic. The roughly minute-long TikTok video briefly showcases how he assembled the mask and concludes with Sanseverino modeling his creation.
As the video explained, Sanseverino’s The Last of Us Clicker mask begins with a blank plastic Halloween mask. He then uses a mold to create silicone skin for the Clicker’s chin. After adhering textured fabric to the top half of the mask, the next step involves cutting sheets of foam into the rough shape of the fungal growths. Sanseverino then glues them into place and coats them in layers of acetic silicone. He next applied a solvent to soften the silicone and used a brush to mold it into the fungal shape.
