The Callisto Protocol is shaping up to be a great horror game, and death has become its calling card.
The Callisto Protocol is clearly not afraid to brutalize its protagonist in gory, gutwrenching, and terrifying ways. And this is something that developer Mark James recently discussed in an interview with IGN Japan, stating that "[gory deaths have] become our signature now. We have a signature death at the end of every trailer." It also seems the studio wants to reward players who die, as James also implies that they are going to do that a lot.

James also stated that The Callisto Protocol's deaths shouldn't be seen as a punishment, but as a way for someone to learn from their mistakes and be entertained in the process. Because of this philosophy, James revealed that The Callisto Protocol's studio is currently working on the game's achievements and trophies, and the studio has put «an achievement in there for seeing all of the deaths.» This would seemingly imply to be deaths from the game's enemies, the game's hazardous environments, and any other way the studio sees fit to kill its players.
