Though 2022 could be neatly divided up into seasonal chunks — pre-vax, “everyone’s getting the jab,” post-vax, and pumpkin spice fall — it’s shocking how much actually fit into a tight 365 days. The realm of TV was no exception, positively bursting with offerings even as the public started to trickle back outside. Even if the final tally of shows ticks slightly down (as it did in 2020) we’re still likely looking at more than 400 original scripted shows aired in 2021.
