Techland is a developer known for making hit games like Dying Light 2 Stay Human. The studios’ games are often beloved by fans for the amount of content and post-launch support they receive. Dying Light 2 is set to receive more support in the coming years, but it looks like the studio has also begun work on a new title. Techland announced today that it is now working on a new RPG that it describes as “a truly next-gen experience.”
The Polish studio shared that the game will be an open-world fantasy RPG. Techland CEO Paweł Marchewka said, “Our ambition is to introduce a brand new IP that is vastly different from what we have been doing for the past several years. We want to create a fully next-gen experience. A new fantasy epic set in a sprawling open world, fueled by the skills and experience we have gained as a team over the years, infused with new ideas, passion, and creativity.” Marchewka went on to say, “While we cannot share more details about this project now, we’re all truly invested in it and looking forward to showing it to gamers when the time is right.”
Techland is currently hiring more developers to come and work on the game. That suggests that the game still has a lot of development to go, but Techland already has an impressive list of industry veterans working on this new RPG.
Karolina Stachyra serves as the narrative director, while Arkadiusz Borowik will be the narrative lead on the new game. They both previously worked on The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Mario Maltezos previously worked on Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and is the creative director for this project.
