An unannounced Tactics Ogre remaster has been spotted on the backend of the PlayStation Store.
PS Deals, which scrapes the store to track any changes in game prices, found listings for PS4 and PS5 versions of a game with the name Tactics Ogre: Reborn.
The Tactics Ogre: Reborn name was trademarked by Square Enix in April, and briefly appeared on the PlayStation Store in June before being removed.
This new appearance, however, is the first time a full description and screenshots have been included.
Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together was originally released on the Super Famicom in 1995 before being ported to the PSP in 2010.
According to the product description, the game is mainly based on the 2010 version, with “improved graphics and sound, as well as updated game design, bringing to life a new Tactics Ogre that remains true to its roots.”
It does appear that the 16-bit original is being used to some extent too, however, as the description also says: “The unparalleled details of the characters and backgrounds from the original Tactics Ogre (1995) have been painstakingly recreated in high definition.”
Cutscenes will feature full voice acting in both English and Japanese, and the music has been recreated with live performances.
The full description for the game reads as follows:
Tactics Ogre, crown jewel of the tactical role-playing genre, is reborn!
Based on the 2010 release, the game features improved graphics and sound, as well as updated game design, bringing to life a new Tactics Ogre that remains true to its roots.
