Within the last several decades, Super Smash Bros. has become one of the most recognizable and popular fighting game series of all time. One of the biggest proponents of the success of Super Smash Bros. has been Masahiro Sakurai, who has been integral to the development of each game since the original released on the N64 back in 1999. However, Sakurai is also an avid and dedicated member of the gaming community as well.
From writing a column for Famitsu to playing over 240 PlayStation games over the course of a year, Sakurai cares about video games just as much as his primary audience does. Given that Super Smash Bros. has served as a way of celebrating various different video game characters and franchises, it makes sense for Sakurai to have experience with numerous facets of gaming. Though, Sakurai has recently reminded his fans on social media of an impending digital shop closure.

Over on Twitter, Sakurai posted a Tweet discussing how there's a little over two weeks left before the Wii U and 3DS eShops permanently shut down. Sakurai later explains that due to the unique nature of both the 3DS and Wii U's touch panels, there are a considerable number of games that likely won't be ported to other platforms, and thus, Sakurai urged his followers to check the eShops for any potential finds.
While the Wii U and 3DS eShops won't close until next year, the easiest way for users to purchase games is by directly adding funds to their digital wallets. After August 29th, Nintendo users will no longer be able to do so and will have to rely on pre-purchased gift cards in order to buy games on both eShops until their inevitable closure in March 2023.
