Super Mario 64 is one of the best-loved of all time. You probably thought all of its secrets have already been discovered ten times over.

Turns out that's not the case. Screenshots from an unused level have been unveiled which show Mario swimming away from some ominous-looking eyeballs.

The screenshots have been discovered thanks to some dedicated work from Forest of Illusion, Render Archive, and Nintoid (via Nintendo Life).

The entities have come together to upload a copy of Nintendo's 1996 company report. Probably a fascinating read if you understand Japanese, but even if you can't, some of its images are enough to excite Super Mario 64 fans.
