Unknown Worlds, the team behind the hugely popular survival game Subnautica will reveal the first gameplay of its next game at Gamescom.
Studio co-founder Charlie Cleveland will unveil the game during Geoff Keighly’s Opening Night Live showcase.
The game is a turn-based strategy game with a sci-fi setting, but any further details, such as a title or release date have yet to be revealed.
Subnautica, the studio’s breakout hit, was released in early access in 2014, and would eventually come to all platforms. The most recent release is a Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series triumvirate.
The game had sold more than five million copies as of January 2020, with a re-emergence in popularity during the pandemic, largely attributed to streamers, increasing that number greatly.
The sequel, Subnautica: Below Zero released in 2021.

Gamescom 2022 is set to take place from August 24-28 and will be a hybrid event held on-site in Cologne and simultaneously online.
The show will kick off with Geoff Keighly’s Opening Night Live, a broadcast which typically includes new game announcements and huge trailers.
2021’s Opening Night Live saw the official reveal of the Saints Row reboot, Marvel’s Midnight Suns and also the reveal of Halo Infinite‘s release date and special edition console.
2K once again delayed the release of the Firaxis strategy game earlier this week, stating that it will arrive sometime in the current fiscal year.
“We have made the decision to move back the launch timing of Marvel’s Midnight Suns to ensure the teams at Firaxis Games and 2K deliver the best possible experience for our fans,” it said.
