The confirmation emails, for anyone unaware, is when those who reserved a device can confirm their address and make the final purchase. Only $5 USD is required to hold a spot in line until the device is actually ready to ship. With so many people waiting for one, it's no real problem for Steam if a pre-order is canceled before the payment is made, and the reservation fee will be returned, so fans don't need to worry if they're unable to purchase one now.
According to Valve, these confirmation emails have been sent out once a week. Going forward, they may be sent out more than once per week, inviting more users to make their final purchase.
