Stalker 2 Development Paused Due To Ongoing Russian Invasion
Stalker 2 developer GSC Game World has announced that development on the game is now on hold as the studio seeks to help its employees and their families “survive.” GSC Game World is based in Kyiv, which is currently the focal point of the ongoing Russian invasion.
In a YouTube video shared by VGC, the developer explains that it had planned to show excited fans detailed videos regarding motion capture, but Russia’s invasion means development has understandably been sidelined. The studio seems to be in high spirits though, as the video also explains that the developers will “definitely continue, after the victory.”

You may recall, GSC Game World was one of the initial Ukrainian developers that spoke out against the invasion alongside 4A Games, Vostock Games, and Frogwares. At that time, the studio was just as high-spirited as it seems right now, proudly stating that “Ukraine will persevere. As it always does."
This news comes shortly after Ukraine’s Vice Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov urged both PlayStation and Xbox to “block all Russian and Belorussian accounts” as countries across the globe continue to isolate Russia. Fedorov also pleaded with the two tech giants to leave the Russian market and to halt all game releases in the country.
Developers across the world have also been offering up support for both Ukrainian workers and the country’s people as conflict continues to escalate in the Ukrainian capital. CD Projekt Red recently announced that it would be donating $240,000 to humanitarian causes while Ubisoft has pledged to help its Ukrainian staff by advancing their wages and offering up temporary housing.
