Nintendo has confirmed that a special free Splatfest event for Splatoon 3 will take place two weeks before the game is released.
The event, which is being dubbed the Splatoon 3 Splatfest World Premiere, will take place on:
Nintendo has also confirmed that Splatfests will now consist of three separate teams, instead of two as in Splatoon and Splatoon 2.
While the first two games featured two ‘idol’ characters who each represented a different team during Splatfests, this time Splatoon 3’s group, Deep Cut, consists of three characters called Frye, Shiver and Big Man.
The Splatfest World Premiere will ask players to choose between three teams: Rock, Paper and Scissors.
According to Nintendo, the even will consist of two phases. The first will feature standard 4v4 Turf War battles as seen in other Splatoon games.
However, after a certain period the Splatfest will switch to a new Tricolor Turf War mode, where all three teams take part together in an attempt to cover most of the stage.
The team that is currently leading the Splatfest (Rock, Paper or Scissors) will start in the middle of the stage while the others attack from the sides.
The third game in the Splatoon series is due to be released on September 9.
Last month Nintendo announced plans to release a special edition Nintendo Switch OLED console with a Splatoon 3 theme.
The Nintendo Switch OLED Splatoon 3 Edition console will launch on August 26 with a suggested retail price of $359.99.
A Splatoon 3 Switch Pro Controller ($74.99) and a Splatoon 3 Switch carrying case ($24.99) will be released on the same date.
