The head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, has said that the company is trying to fulfil player expectations in the wake of delays for two tentpole titles.
In a post on Twitter alongside the news that the Big M was delaying both Bethesda's Starfield and Arkane Austin's Redfall until next year, the exec said that he supported the devs' decision to bump their projects. He did, however, say that Xbox needs to do more to keep fans happy, with fans having little else to look forward to on the release slate this year.
"These decisions are hard on teams making the games and our fans," Spencer wrote.
"While I fully support giving teams time to release these great games when they are ready, we hear the feedback. Delivering quality & consistency is expected, we will continue to work to better meet those expectations."
Starfield was one of the big releases for Xbox for 2022 and was delayed until the first half of 2023 alongside Redfall.
This follows Microsoft's $7.5 billion acquisition of Bethesda parent company ZeniMax Media last year.
