The rumours about Sony’s new gaming headphones and monitors are true but they’ve already been announced without a State of Play.
We already knew it was coming thanks to recent rumours and leaks, but Sony has now officially unveiled its new PC gaming brand INZONE.
Sony has been making more of an effort to tap into the PC market as of late, with ports of its first party PlayStation games like God Of War and Spider-Man, and it sees this brand as the next step in its plans.
Consisting of PC monitors and both wireless and wired headsets, Sony is aiming to have its new products out later this year.
The INZONE M9 monitor, which is 27 inches wide and boasts 4K resolution, is listed for a summer launch at £999, while the M3 monitor will arrive in the winter. It currently lacks a price, but it’ll presumably be cheaper since it lacks 4K support.
The three headsets will come even sooner in July. The wired headset will be the cheapest option at £89. The wireless H7 headset is priced at £189, while the H9 Noise Cancelling headset is £269.
‘The market has been expanding with a higher interest in gaming with the spread of esports tournaments and the advancement of gaming entertainment,’ says Yukihiro Kitajima, head of game business and marketing office at Sony.
‘We are committed to contributing to the growth of gaming culture by providing PC and PlayStation gamers with a wider range of options to enrich lives through gaming.’
There was some speculation that Sony would announce the INZONE brand as part of a wider State of Play. Since that didn’t happen, it’s looking increasingly likely that there won’t be any such showcase before the end of June.
