SNK producer Yauyuki Oda, who is responsible for some of the developer’s solid modern fighting games, has suggested that both SNK and Capcom are interested in the possibility of reviving the SNK vs. Capcom (SvC) series — a crossover franchise that has remained dormant since the 2006 Card Fighters Clash series.
Speaking in an interview with VGC, Oda spoke of the recent art collaboration that took place at fighting game tournament EVO earlier this month, which saw characters from SNK and Capcom’s respective fighting game series squaring off for the first time in many years. Pressed for the possibility of a revival of the crossover series, Oda reacted with positivity, noting that Capcom itself has some interest in the possibility.

“Definitely in the future, that’s something that I think everybody on all sides, in both parties, are interested in making a reality,” noted Oda. “Especially after we saw the reaction to the [Evo artwork]. It helped us reconfirm that that is probably one of the most wanted things from the fighting game community across the entire world. […] We haven’t actually done anything with Capcom, even on character collaboration stuff. So that poster was the first step towards maybe something like that happening in the future.”
