The focus here is on preparation and like the engagement dinner, it's a time for family to come together to prepare for the big day. Its traditions match that of the engagement dinner.
This is a generic wedding-themed event that you can customize to meet your needs. However, it has traditions that match the rehearsal and engagement dinner, so you cannot use it to get Sims to exchange vows.
