After less than a year of publication, Yuji Kaku's Ayashimon, one of Shonen Jump's more interesting new manga, has decided to end its run with issue #25, which is set to drop on May 30, 2022.
Ayashimon tells the story of Maruo Kaido, a young man who as a child dreamed of becoming a hero like the ones he read about in manga like Dragon Ball and One-Punch Man. To realize his dream, Maruo religiously practices the fighting techniques he sees in manga. After a time, he is able to use his practice technique to develop himself into a fighter with unbeatable lethality. However, after discovering that few people admire or want his superhero skill set, Maruo reluctantly accepts a job as the bodyguard of Urara, the leader of an alien criminal gang. In that role, Maruo is finally able to realize his dream of fighting bad guys, albeit for a group of questionable characters.

Rumors of the series ending starting appearing late last week. First there was the May 26, 2022 tweet from the manga's creator Yuji Kaku, imploring fans and readers to buy the recently released Ayashimon #24. In the tweet, Kaku announces that he is suffering from unfounded anxiety that may have ridiculous results. Then later that same day, Shonen Jump News — Unofficial tweeted a post with a cover shot of Ayashimon and the message, "Ayashimon by Kaku Yuuji has ended in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #26/2022." Finally, on May 29, 2022, the formal announcement of the manga's end was made in a tweet from Shonen Jump, the manga anthology where Ayashimon has been serialized.
