Over the course of its history, Pixar has become renowned for telling emotionally resonant stories in entertaining ways. Their latest effort, Turning Red, is no exception. The film stars Rosalie Chiang as Mei Lee, a teenage girl who transforms into a giant red panda whenever she experiences heightened emotions. A unique and charming coming-of-age film, Turning Red has earned widespread praise for being another compelling offering in Pixar's filmography. Sandra Oh also stars as Mei Lee's mother, Ming.
Screen Rant spoke with Chiang and Oh about their work on the film, Princess Diaries, and more.

Screen Rant: Rosalie, I want to start with you because this is your first major feature film. Pixar, working with Sandra freaking Oh! What happened when you were told you got the part? Who's the first person you told? Walk me through that.
Rosalie Chiang: Oh, gosh. I mean, I've had two moments of that booking realization. [The] first time was when I booked it for scratch, which means that they just needed a voice to animate off. I hadn't officially booked it. I was 12 years old when that first happened and they just gave me an email and we were super excited, but we were so confused as well. But then two years later, I think I was 14 or 15, but that's when Domee Shi, the director, brought in a camera saying, «Oh we're just doing this little documentary thing.” Then after the little thing, Domee said, „We love your voice. Will you please be Mei?“ Obviously, the most magical experience in my entire life. It was my mom in that room when she announced it.
