GTA 5 has been waiting for its next-gen upgrade so long that it's basically current-gen now. Originally scheduled for November 2021 (a year after the PS5 and Xbox Series X launched), that got delayed to March 2022 thanks to COVID and the challenges of working from home. Since then, we got to see some new paint jobs coming in the update, but that's about it.
Until now. Rockstar has finally confirmed GTA 5 Expanded and Enhanced will arrive on March 15.

Upgrades for the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S include "new graphics modes with up to 4K resolution, up to 60 frames per second, texture and draw distance upgrades, HDR options and ray-tracing, as well as offering the technical advancements of the latest console generation with faster loading times, immersive 3D audio, platform-specific features like advanced haptic feedback, and much more."
Everyone will have the chance to transfer their Story Mode progress and GTA Online characters "with a one-time migration at launch." There will also be a brand-new standalone current-gen version of GTA Online that will be available for free on PS5 for the first three months.
Besides the graphical improvements, GTA Online will get a number of improvements on the newest consoles. New players will be able to skip GTA 5's story prologue and also gain access to a new GTA Online tutorial. After completing the tutorial, players will be taken to the Career Builder screen where they'll be able to choose between four illicit businesses: Biker, Executive, Nightclub Owner, or Gunrunner.
