So you're one of the lucky souls who managed to purchase a PlayStation 5 and have been enjoying the capabilities of the DualSense and the improved performance of the powerful, SSD-toting hardware. But maybe the enormous expanse of white that are its face plates makes the console stand out far too much, and you've been eyeing up those PS5 console covers Sony announced a while back.
If you wanted to pick up the first two covers - Midnight Black and Cosmic Red - which were supposed to be available to buy in retail stores a few days ago, you are out of luck it seems. These coloured console covers are currently only sold via the PlayStation Direct store. Sony had said previously that these first two colours would be arriving in retail outlets this month, but this now doesn't appear to be the case.

The US and UK PlayStation Direct stores have updated information on the face plates that suggest the covers won't be in retail stores until March (thanks VGC). The previous listings for the two covers said "on general release from 18th February" but this has now been updated to "on general release from 2nd March" for the UK.
However, those wanting to pick up covers from physical stores in America look like they might have to wait even longer. The archived listing on the US PlayStation Direct store had said previously that the covers were "Available from us now, available 2/18 elsewhere". But this has been changed to "Available from us now, available 3/31 elsewhere."
This all means that if you want to buy the Midnight Black or Cosmic Red covers, you can only order them directly from PlayStation, and they aren't listed for pre-orders on Amazon UK or Amazon US, or
