It’s been claimed that Capcom is looking to properly reveal its Resident Evil 4 remake this year, alongside some other interesting details.
While there’s been no official confirmation, it’s widely believed that Capcom, following the success of its Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 remakes, wants to give Resident Evil 4 the same treatment.
In a new report by Fanbyte, it’s now claimed that Capcom will formally announce the Resident Evil 4 remake this year, probably in early 2022. Not only that, but Fanbyte’s sources have shared potential details about what fans can expect from the remake.
Firstly, much like the last two remakes, this one won’t be a shot-for-shot copy of the original and will make some changes to the game’s story. For example, the remake will spend a decent portion set during night-time, including the opening scenes of Leon entering the village.
Apparently, this is part of an attempt to make Resident Evil 4 a spookier experience overall. Resident Evil 4 had several well-known prototypes before the style of the final game was settled on, some of which featured a more supernatural tone.
The sources claims that Capcom has been looking at the ‘Hook Man’ version in particular, where Leon explores a castle and fights living dolls, as well as other discarded ideas from the original production.
Side characters will also be given expanded roles, including Ada Wong. Ada wasn’t in the original GameCube version of the game but had side campaigns content added in subsequent versions.
As for the previously leaked art of series baddie Wesker, Fanbyte says that the art is real, but it’s not related to the Resident Evil 4 remake. Instead, it comes from another project that is thought to have been cancelled.
