Razzie Awards 2022 Nominations: Jared Leto, Ben Affleck & More Get Nods
Hollywood’s least-coveted accolades; the Razzies (or Golden Raspberry Awards) have announced their full list of nominees for 2022; with Jared Leto’s performance in House of Gucci and Ben Affleck’s in The Last Duel both rightly or wrongly among the ridiculed. The big winners of last year’s Razzies included former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani for his part in Borat 2 and Sia’s tone-deaf autism-based melodrama Music.
The Razzies have been running for 40 years; established as the antithesis to the yearly Academy Awards. The awards set out to celebrate the worst acting and directing in the film industry; parodying the self-congratulatory awards season. Razzie nominations and winners are both announced a day prior to their Oscar-counterparts. Now a cult staple of the Hollywood award season; several actors have actually accepted their parodic awards in-person (including Halle Berry and Sandra Bullock).

This year’s official Razzie nominees are the cream of the crop of bad movies. Leading the wave with 9 nominations is Netflix’s Diana the Musical (which the Razzies describes as “The OtherDiana Movie”). The nominees for Worst Picture also include Space Jam: A New Legacy, The Woman in the Window and Karen. Dear Evan Hansen’s 28-year old high-schooler Ben Platt picks up a nomination for Worst Actor, while former Batman and Joker actors Affleck and Leto go head-to-head in the Worst Supporting Actor category. Leto’s infamously distracting performance in Ridley Scott’s House of Gucci is a favorite to win, but Affleck continues to divide audiences with his role in Scott’s other film of 2021; The Last Duel.
