PlayStation Plus is all about patterns. PlayStation Plus subscribers know that they can expect Sony to announce the next free PS Plus games on the last Wednesday of every month and that they will consist of one PS5 game and two PS4 titles, with some rare exceptions. There are clear PS Plus patterns when looking at one month to the next, but some patterns also become clear when comparing new free PS Plus games to offerings from previous years as well.
For example, March is generally considered to be a big month for PS Plus every year, and that pattern held true with the free PS Plus games for March 2022. Because of previous year offerings, PS Plus subscribers expected the free PS Plus games for March 2022 to be significant, and they weren't let down. Until April 4, PS Plus subscribers are able to claim Ghostrunner, Ark: Survival Evolved, Team Sonic Racing, and Ghost of Tsushima: Legends for their digital libraries.
GTA Online on PS5 Giving Players One Week Free PS Plus Trial
Not only were PS Plus subscribers treated to four free games in March 2022 instead of the usual three, but they also got an added bonus in the form of Grand Theft Auto Online. The PS5 version of Grand Theft Auto Online is free for all PS5 gamers to claim until June 14, and while it doesn't require a PS Plus subscription to claim, PS5 gamers do have to subscribe to the service to actually play it. There's also a PS Plus free trial that comes with Grand Theft Auto Online, so the game is still tied to the service regardless if one needs to be a subscriber to claim it.
