Sony's PlayStation Plus service has been expanded to include three tiers. The highest tier is PlayStation Plus Premium, which gives subscribers access to a host of retro games along with plenty of PS4 and PS5 titles, as well as the monthly free games. Since launching these new PlayStation Plus tiers, Sony has regularly expanded the library with new game additions, with plenty more games set to be added on September 20.
While September 20 will be a huge day for PS Plus Premium subscribers, it's also going to be a somewhat sad day for the service. On that day, PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers will be losing access to one of its highest-rated games in the form of Rockstar's 2018 open world western Red Dead Redemption 2.
PS Plus Free Games for September 2022 Officially Revealed
Red Dead Redemption 2 is a PS4 game, which would typically make it a part of the PS Plus Extra tier, but it's available to stream through PS Plus Premium as a leftover from when the service was known as PlayStation Now. It's one of the highest-rated video games of all time, with critics praising its impressive graphics, engrossing story, and impressive sense of realism. Red Dead Redemption 2 took home numerous awards in 2018, and it remains one of the industry's most popular titles. To see it removed from the PlayStation Plus Premium lineup is definitely going to be a blow for the service, though many other highly-rated games will remain available to play.
In fact, 2018's other highest-rated game, God of War, will remain playable to anyone with a PS Plus Premium subscription. On top of that, many more new games are being added to PS Plus Premium come September 20. In total, PS Plus Premium subscribers will have a whopping 17 new games to check out
