A Pokémon Sword and Shield discovery baffled players in how it explains the names of the games and DLC. Pokémon Sword and Shield was how the eighth generation of Pokémon started, and 2022 will soon see the release of the ninth generation. The eighth-generation had its share of ups and downs with its mainline entries, with Pokémon Legends: Arceus being extremely well received by many fans.
The base game of Pokémon Sword and Shield was riddled with controversy up to its release due to the cut of the national dex. Following the base game, the Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra DLC were released, which each provided a new wild area to explore filled with returning Pokémon that weren’t in the base game. The Crown Tundra also added several new variants and legendary Pokémon. Both DLC packs were overall better received than the base game due to the amount of new content added.

A post from Reddit user Renelie89 shows the reason why the games are named the way they are in the statue depicting the hero of Galar. The obvious observation is that the hero is holding a sword and a shield, but the picture also points out the fact that he is covered in armor and wearing a crown could be why the DLC packs are called the Isle of Armor and the Crown Tundra. All of which are tools befitting that of a knight. The reaction to this revelation has fans in the comments surprised and dumbfounded.
The next generation of Pokémon was recently announced when Pokémon Scarlet andViolet were finally revealed. From the first trailer, it looks as though these games will take some inspiration from Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Pokémon Scarlet andViolet are described to be “open-world”
