The hype for Pokemon Scarlet & Violet is really starting to ramp up with only a little more than two months to go until they launch. A new trailer has upped that hype yet again, showcasing a previously leaked mechanic where your Pokemon battle automatically.
Shown briefly during the official trailer, Centro Leaks has since highlighted that Pokemon did indeed show off auto battles for the first time. It also highlighted the feature was something it detailed via an unnamed leaker a short while ago. While auto battles appear to be similar to the way trainers could engage with wild Pokemon in Legends: Arceus, they're actually a little different.

Rather than throw a Pokeball at an unsuspecting Pokemon and then meticulously select what your own Pokemon does in an attempt to weaken it, the latter is taken out of your hands in Scarlet & Violet's auto battles. In fact, you don't even have to watch the battle at all. Just throw your Pokeball and let your Pokemon do all the hard work while you keep yourself busy doing something else.
While exactly how engaged you can be in these battles hasn't officially been revealed, it seems likely that you'll be able to do more than stand around and watch if you want to be more involved. The mechanic will be handy for harvesting EXP and leveling up your Pokemon faster, though. You can simply leave your Pokemon to battle while you seek out its next opponent. One clip also demonstrates you can unleash more than one Pokemon at a time, although that may depend on the number of Pokemon you're up against.
