For Pokemon Day, The Pokemon Company hosted a small Pokemon Presents presentation to reveal news regarding Pokemon Cafe ReMix, Unite, and more. Among them was the reveal for the ninth generation of mainline games, Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet. Just like the other announcements before it, fans also got a look at the new starters, and some are concerned about what direction the grass-type Pokemon will take when it evolves.
Since the Pokemon series has always featured the evolution of its creatures as a staple of its formula, how the new starters will evolve is always a hot topic. Some fans theorize on the evolutions right away, considering they can be drastically different from how the first form tends to look. It's understandable that some may have reservations regarding the starters in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, as some have felt betrayed by the ending evolution of their partners.
Pokemon Presents Was Under-Marketed Due to Ukraine Conflict
The grass-type starter in Pokemon SV is Sprigatito, the Grass Cat Pokemon. Just like the other two starters, Quaxly and Fuecoco, Sprigatito has earned the love of many fans already following its reveal. However, those who have already chosen the cat-based Pokemon have made a request to Game Freak, and that request is that Sprigatito doesn't stand on two legs upon completely evolving.
While it may seem like a strange request to make, starters evolving to stand on their hind legs is actually a more common trait than fire-fighting-types among the creatures, which was another gripe fans had in regard to Litten of Pokemon Sun and Moon.
